Frequently asked questions

I know you will likely have questions you'd like to ask, so below are a few that will help you get started.

How much do sessions cost?

Clear, Straightforward Session Fees

Individual counselling: £60 for a focused 50-minute session, providing dedicated time to explore what matters most to you.

Couples counselling: £75 for a 60-minute session, giving you both the space to feel heard and begin moving forward together.

I believe counselling should be as accessible as possible. A limited number of reduced-fee sessions are available for people on lower incomes and for trainee counsellors, so please feel welcome to get in touch and ask about current availability.

Do you offer online therapy sessions?

Therapy That Fits Around Your Life

If travelling to the practice is difficult—or maybe you just feel more comfortable talking from home—online and telephone sessions can offer you a flexible, accessible way to get the support you are looking for.

Your privacy matters: My online sessions are held through a secure service provider, so you can speak openly from a private space where you feel at ease.

Support if your plans change: If you usually meet with me in person but cannot for some unexpected reason travel on a particular day, moving the session online can help you maintain continuity without adding extra pressure.

What should I expect from my first counselling session?

Your First Session: A Calm, Supportive Place to Begin

Taking the first step can feel daunting, so your first session is designed to help you feel comfortable, heard, and under no pressure. It is a chance for us to get to know each other and feel confident that working together feels right for you.

Together, we can explore:

  • what has been happening and what has led you to seek support;
  • what changes you would most like to see in your life or relationships;
  • how counselling may help and what you can expect from the process;
  • confidentiality, practical details, and any questions or concerns you may have;

You do not need to arrive with the right words or a clear plan. You can share as much or as little as you are able, ask anything you need to, and take time to decide on the next step. The aim is for you to leave feeling clearer, supported, and hopeful about the way forward. And remember, these are your sessions, you set the pace that is manageable for you.

How long does therapy last?

Working at Your Pace and Preparing for an Ending

Everyone is different and brings their own experiences to counselling. For that reason, my sessions are open-ended, giving each client the time and space to work at a pace that feels right for them.

When you feel ready to move forward without counselling, we can structure a planned ending over a set number of sessions. Together, we will focus on:

  • recognising and strengthening your own resources;
  • consolidating the new skills you have developed; and
  • identifying support networks or groups that can help you maintain and build on the progress you have made.
